Frequently Asked Questions
Product and usage
They are authentic corn tortillas sourced straight from Mexico! From the Guanajuato region to be exact.
The smell is a common characteristic of corn tortillas and is a naturally occurring scent caused by Nixtamalization. Nixtamalization is a traditional process of treating corn native to Mexico where the corn is soaked in limewater to help unlock nutrients, flavour and that soft, flexible texture. The smell goes aways once cooked until golden and you’re just left with that lovely toasted corn aroma.
Once opened, please keep in the fridge and consume within 5 days.
You have left over tortillas? No problem, why not make them into tortilla chips. See our recipe here
Yes! Heating tortillas properly makes all the difference. Warming them brings them back to life, increasing flavour and flexibility.
Please add a little oil to a pan and heat these for 40 seconds each side or until golden. A well-heated tortilla should bend easily and hold its filling without cracking. That’s when it’s at its best
The packaging can be recycled at large stores. It is not currently recyclable at home.
Our tortillas are preservative free, so you might notice some natural colour variation in the tortillas depending on the crop each batch comes from. They still have the same unmatched signature rich, nutty flavour and perfect crunch with every bite.
Yellow corn tortillas are mild, soft and incredibly versatile. Blue corn tortillas have a slightly more earthy flavour and a firmer bite, as well as their natural deep colour. Both are traditional and perfect base for any taco creation.
